Judges 3-5 Reflection:

Because the people of Israel had disobeyed God, He appointed judges to "judge" the people. They were in rebellion to God, worshipping other idols (baals.) Rebellion is akin to witchcraft in the eyes of the Lord. The Israelities that dwelled among the "termites" were tested if they would have a "breach of faith." They had openly proclaimed that they would not be led astray and would serve ONLY the Lord but they were dishonest. The Lord raised up Othniel to be a rescuer of the people when they cried out for help, sought to repent after being made slaves once more. Othniel conquered the king that had enslaved them and delivered them then later passed on after 40 years of peace. But once more the people of Israel did evil in the sight and the Lord continued to deliver them from their own selfish actions and sinfulness. They continuously reaped what they sowed, living sinful has it's dire consequences yet God kept freeing them from the cages they willingly built for themselves. This is prevenient grace if ever I did see it. He continued to be merciful when though they continued to be disobedient.

In today's new testament reading what stands out to me is seeing Jesus compair righteous and unrighteous. Who would bend over backwards and who wouldn't for him. Someone who has done a great many things wrong and feels as if they don't deserve to be forgiven will shed tears and do much for those who forgave them. They will be more open to love and gratitude then someone who feels they have done nothing wrong and doesn't feel like they need to make up for anything they have done. It's amazing g how far she went and the desiple didn't notice or do the same.
