Joshua 9-10 Reflection:

This reading has me in awe. I would love to see this as an epic war movie honestly. The Hitites, Amorites, Canaanites, all the "termites" as our old pastor would say gathered together to rise against Joshua and Israel BUT after hearing word of the fate of Jericho and Ai they had to be extra cunning so they decided to pose as poor servants traveling from a very rough and far journey and cut covenant with Israel. I don't know why Joshua did not seek counsel from God in regards to this alliance, to me it seems foolish but it's kind of funny that the very same that posed to be servants were discovered in their deception but spared so long as they continued in servitude to the congregation of Israel. In fact because they were allies, they helped the cities of these kings. Other kings rose up against Israel but the Lord was always with them. What I find especially awesome about this war is that Joshua said that the sun would not set until the nation took vengeance on its enemies and the Lord honored that request. These enemies were indeed slain after first hiding in caves like cowards and the sun set.
