1 Samuel 15-16 Reflection:

Although the Lord Himself anointed Saul as king, Saul was disobedient when he was instructed by the Lord DESTROY EVERYTHING in Amalek! King Saul did things his own and he spared the Kenites and told them to leave Amalek, and he took the Amalekite king Agag alive and the best of their cattle and anything he deemed "good." To OBEY is Better than SACRIFICE. King Saul brought what he deemed worthy of sacrifice to honor God by his own hands and own ways yet the Lord commanded him to obey and devote EVERYTHING to destruction. Both the Lord and Samuel were angry and Saul was stripped of his title as king for not being obedient. See the consequence for being disobedient. Rebellion against the Lord is likened as to witchcraft. This is not to be taken lightly. If the Lord has called you to do something, to disobey is an act of defiance that is rebellion to the Word of God. This means that just as there is reward for obedience there is discipline for disobedience. The Lord still is wrathful with necessary and He chastises those He loves. King Saul forfeited his own title and calling, it wasn't the Lord that stole it from him. King David would be appointed next. Remember that if you don't use it you'll lose it.
